Aaron Binder's upcoming, as-yet-untitled, CD, is the drummer / bandleader / songwriter's second old school Jazz Statement of Purpose, with heady Charlottesville- and Richmond-area musicians lending a hand.

Binder's debut, 1996's This Side of Jazz, racked up votes in surprising corners in Grip's 1997 Best-of-Music poll; recorded straight to a one-track Nagra field recorder in a live club setting at Michael's Bistro in Charlottesville. The new CD (due Oct. 1998) uses the same mike-direct technology in a small, acoustically-keen auditorium-- Anthony Seeger Hall at James Madison University in Harrisonburg.

Virginiamusicflash is proud to preview the opening cut from Binder's forthcoming CD

"The Drama Queens,"

written by Aaron Binder and performed by

Binder, pianist Wells Hanley

and bassist Scot Fitzsimmons.
